36 Lessons On This Trip

It’s been another trip around the sun.  I’m thankful for another day.  Another chance to follow God with my life and embrace this journey that I’m on.  As I did last year, I spent time reflecting on the experiences of the previous 365 days, along with the lessons and concepts that have meant something to me throughout the year.  Here we go!

  1. God provides faith for each step.

  2. New things are scary but attainable.

  3. Healthy boundaries don’t require an apology.

  4. Laughter truly is the best medicine.

  5. Popsicles are not just for kids.

  6. Rest is necessary to perform well.

  7. Everyone has an opinion; you have to discern who/what you will listen to.

  8. The smell of rain in summer can’t be beat.

  9. It’s wise to learn from those ahead of us.

  10. Giving is more beneficial than receiving.

  11. You are never too old to learn something new.

  12. Joy is contagious.

  13. Pick fresh flowers and let them brighten the room and your soul.

  14. Enjoy watching others be happy.

  15. Travel - there’s much to see.

  16. It’s okay to have a good cry—it’s freeing.

  17. Don’t let anyone steal your happiness and joy.

  18. It should be the law to snuggle a puppy every day for your mental health.

  19. Cherish good friends, don’t let them go.

  20. Keep celebrating your accomplishments.

  21. Do something just for you from time to time; a head spa is a good place to start.

  22. It’s okay to take a deep breath and begin again.

  23. Pay attention to the signs your body will give that you may be running on empty.

  24. Decorate for any season that you want; a calendar doesn’t define you.

  25. Tomorrow isn’t a guarantee; cherish this moment.

  26. You’re never too old to color and be creative.

  27. Giving things to God is not a one-time thing; sometimes it’s a process that must happen multiple times a day.

  28. Having an army of prayer warriors goes a long way to support your walk in faith.

  29. There are times when rest is the best thing we can do for our bodies.

  30. Worship is powerful any time of the day; it’s not just reserved for Sunday.

  31. Keep your eyes open to the ways God is answering your prayers - He’s working on your behalf every day.

  32. Worry takes up time but propels us nowhere.

  33. Cleaning up and getting rid of things makes room for new adventures.

  34. Adapting to new challenges is like ripping a Band-Aid off a hairy arm; It hurts initially, but it helps propel the healing.

  35. Life is short, eat more sweet stuff!

  36. The chores can wait; embrace the moments with family and friends.

I’m excited to celebrate another year, but I’m hopeful for what’s ahead.  I know it will be another 365 days full of lessons to learn.  I pray I can do it well.

Isaiah 30:18

So the Lord must wait for you to come to him

so he can show you his love and compassion.

For the Lord is a faithful God.

Blessed are those who wait for his help.
